A brilliantly executed strategy saw Offshore Team Germany maximise the light winds potential of their timeless 10 year old Owen Clarke design whilst working tirelessly to minimise the enormous speed deficit to the latest foiling IMOCAs in the medium to strong wind foiling conditions.
A very special mention is due for Joff Brown and his talented and committed team at Lighthouse Yacht Services in the UK who have so professionally brought ‘Einstein’ back to glorious and winning life.
The Lighthouse team completed a comprehensive refit and refurbishment of the yacht, rigging and systems. Nothing was left to chance and no stone was left unturned in the quest to prepare ‘Einstein’ for the series of races which will ultimately culminate in their participation in the The Ocean Race 2022.
This first overall victory at The Ocean Race Europe 2021 is just rewards for the considered and committed approach from the management, sailing and shore teams.
It is also the perfect building block for the next challenges which lie ahead: The Transat Jacques Vabre Transatlantic challenge 2021 and the start of The Ocean Race round the world starting summer 2022.
